Quadagno & Associates, Inc., formed in 1996, consults with the following
industries regarding card technology products, projects and programs:

- Long Distance Carriers (MCI, GTE, Qwest Communications Int'l, Cable & Wireless)

- Vendors marketing POS and ATM terminals, card technologies (smart,
magnetic, and optical), and system integrators developing standalone
stored value systems (loyalty and frequency marketing, monetary stored
value, virtual and physical security systems, etc.

technologies
The firm works with long distance telephonies engaged in the marketing of
prepaid phone cards. We assist our telephony clients in the following ways:
- Expanding product characteristics to include activation of the product
at the point of sale using the existing payments credit card authorization
infrastructure
- Creating greater operating cost efficiencies by analyzing current
operating procedures and suggesting modifications as appropriate and
with accompanying rationale
- Assisting in the development of marketing plans and strategies for
penetration of new markets such as bank ATM networks and payment processors
- Establishing joint ventures with banks, networks, and bankcard associations
in the development of E-Commerce and prepaid applications
- Developing back office operations centers for managing the day-to-day
requirements of the prepaid platform
Establishing service level performance parameters and developing measurement
methods We work with organizations wishing to implement database management
schemes to control their businesses and ongoing marketing efforts. Projects
in which we've developed database management systems include developing
database management schemes and assist clients in identifying relevant reports
and formats from database design.
We work with universities to assist them in implementing student card identification
programs. The suite of applications accommodated by student ID cards continues
to grow, forcing universities to investigate alternatives to mag card technology.

- Financial aid administration
- Dormitory security access
- University intranet access
- Student identification and picture encoding
- Academic grade tracking
- Athletic and intramural sports tracking and admittance
We work with public transit agencies in the development of automated fare
and toll collection systems using a variety of card technologies. Quadagno
& Associates has worked (as either an employee or consultant) with:
- New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority
- New York City's Transit Authority
- Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority
- New Jersey Turnpike Authority
- Seattle Metro
- Washington State Ferries
- Long Island Rail Road
- Metro North Commuter Railroad
- Metropolitan Suburban Bus Authority
Significant achievements in the smart card industry
include:
- Managing the systems integration teams for the deployment of smart
card stored value systems in Electronic Payment Systems HQ building,
CoreStates' HQ in Philadelphia and Bank of America's Concord Computing
facility near San Francisco.
- Began planning the migration of New York City's MetroCard transit
system from mag stripe to smart card technology. Directly responsible
for the creation of a new Metropolitan Transportation Authority subsidiary
(the MTA Card Company) to manage this process.
- Evaluating the business case and participation in the development
of the implementation plan for a smart card stored value and student
identification system at Florida State University. This exercise lasted
two years. The first year of this analysis work occurred while working
at EPS, while the last year of this effort was as a consultant to MCI's
Digital Imaging business unit and FSU.
- Participating in the acquisition of a consulting engagement that
would evaluate the implementation of smart card contactless technology
as a payment mechanism for all five transit service providers and the
Washington State Ferries operating in the Seattle area.
